History

Don Brucker started BCS Crop Consulting after buying out his previous employer's 35,000 acre sampling business.  We have come a long way from coloring zone recommendation maps by hand!  Over the years, our services have grown to fit the needs our customers entrusted to us.  An amazing customer base is the reason we have been able to grow in the past twenty years!

  1. Don Brucker started BCS Crop Consulting in Melvin, IL. With himself and summer help with soil sampling, approximately 35,000 acres were on the crop consulting program.

  2. At this point, we had grown to over 60,000 acres of soil fertility consulting. Retail fertilizer companies in the area had told BCS customers they were going to charge them more for application if they continued to use our sampling program. A decision was made: With the support of our customers, we were willing to expand our business to fertilizer, chemical retail sales and application. We began renting the north end of the Atkins Seed Service building in Weston, IL.

  3. We were able to transition from hauling directly from the terminal to the field to building our first retail facility! Working out of our current office in Chenoa, we serviced approximately 85,000 acres.

  4. With an expanding geography and customer base of approximately 120,000 acres, we started work on our second retail facility in Arrowsmith. Our crew had expanded to 17 employees overall!

  5. We bought out Vigor Ag and acquired their seed treatment business.

  6. Replaced 300 ton hoop building with a 1,200 ton state-of-the-art fertilizer building at our Weston location.

  7. Built on the addition of 5 bulk seed bins to our treatment shed at our Arrowsmith location to accommodate our rapid seed sales and seed treatment growth.

  8. Our third retail facility is located outside of Gibson City on Route 54 and opened September 1st, 2018. We are looking forward to serving Ford County and the surrounding areas from this facility! We currently have 26 employees who service 150,000 acres of soil sampling and a total 216,000 acres of application.

  9. Our Fourth Facility is located in McLean, IL and opened December 1st, 2020. We are looking forward to serving the McLean area and the surrounding counties from this facility.

  10. We completed construction of our 1,000,000 gallon UAN tank.
